Description:
This Advanced Clutch Technology (ACT) clutch kit includes a MaXX Xtreme pressure plate, 6-pad, spring-centered race disc, release bearing, pilot bearing and alignment tool. The MaXX Xtreme pressure plate allows for a 70 to 150 percent increase in clamp load over the stock unit. Advanced Clutch Technology (ACT) pressure plates use exclusive diaphragm design to increase clamp load, reduce deflection and maximize clutch life. All diaphragms endure an exclusive four-stage, heat-treating process for unparalleled performance. ACT pressure plates have precision cover stampings to provide rigidity and consistency, and some are reinforced to reduce flex and improve efficiency and the feel of the pressure plate. ACT pressure plates are manufactured from new units —not rebuilt from worn out parts — and are 100 percent tested and computer balanced for smooth operation at high RPM. ACT’s MaXX Xtreme pressure plates have a pedal feel that is stiff to very stiff and are recommended for use with a race disc. ACT’s 6-pad, spring-centered race disc features a spring-center construction to properly dampen torsional vibrations for quieter operation and resist failure even under harsh conditions. ACT spring retainers utilize wraparound spring windows and thicker retainer stampings to provide spring support, reduce stress concentrations, and increase strength and reliability. The heavy duty torsional dampening springs are stronger in most cases than standard springs and are provided in the best sizes and spring rates to suit the application. The 6-pad, spring-centered disc is recommended for larger clutch sizes to absorb more heat and for smoother engagement. All ACT race discs are certified as meeting SFI Specification 1.1 and are legal in all racing organizations that require SFI certification. The kit is completed with a quality, stock replacement release bearing, pilot bearing and alignment tool.
Attributes:
• All ACT pressure plates are dynamically computer balanced for smooth operation at high RPM
• Clamp load increase of 70 to 150 percent over stock with a stiff to very stiff pedal feel
• Premium ceramic friction materials provide high heat tolerance, high coefficient of friction, low wear rates and will hold approximately 28 percent more torque than standard organic materials.

After spending hundreds or thousands of dollars building that high-powered engine, you need a quality clutch that can properly transfer that power into motion. But there is much more to consider. For street use, you will need a long lasting clutch that has positive feel, smooth engagement and quiet operation. For racing, you need a tough clutch that will enable quick shifts and hard slips all the way to the finish line. ACT recognizes that every driver and engine set up is unique, so a variety of complete clutch kits and components are offered to match virtually any situation.
Q: What does a clutch kit do? Why buy a performance clutch kit?
A: Clutch kits are used for upgrading the holding power of your factory transmission and clutch setup. If you decide to haul heavy loads or add extra horsepower to your car, you will need a high performance clutch upgrade to handle of the extra stress. You can only make a limited number of horsepower upgrades before you have to upgrade your clutch. A performance clutch gives your car the capacity to handle the increased horsepower and torque.
Q: What all does a clutch kit include?
A: Most clutch kits include the clutch itself, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throw-out bearing and the clutch alignment tool. Flywheels are sold separately on our website.
Q: How do you install a clutch kit?
A: We recommend you get a clutch kit installed by professionals since dropping the transmission is usually necessary in order to install a clutch kit. Once the transmission is off of the block, you remove your stock setup and slip on the new kit using the clutch alignment tool. It's always imperative to make sure that surface of the flywheel is as clean as possible when mounting it back up to the clutch, to prevent any slipping during shifts.
