Centerforce manufactures the best in SFI approved performance flywheels by using high-strength billets, not castings. Centerforce flywheel part numbers with a “700” prefix are made from billet steel and match closely to the original equipment flywheel weight. Centerforce “800” and “900” flywheel part number prefixes designate specially made flywheels from aircraft grade billet aluminum for light weight (low inertia). Centerforce aluminum flywheels also feature mechanically retained starter ring gears as well as replaceable steel friction surfaces that have been heat-treated for abrasion resistance and long life. Centerforce has been a mainstay in the performance industry for many years, providing a unique "spin" on clutches. The company's patented "Centerforce" technology employs a set of weights that use centrifugal force and leverage to increase clamping power the higher the engine is revved. This means that the more power your car puts to the ground, the stronger a Centerforce clutch will hold. Almost as important is the fact that because of this design, Centerforce is able to increase clutch performance without increasing the effort needed to disengage the clutch, maintaining a stock pedal feel, which is a big deal in our book.
Q: How do you install a flywheel?
A: We recommend professional installation since dropping the transmission or whole motor is usually needed. Once the transmission is off of the block, you can go ahead and remove your clutch setup and flywheel. Replace the factory flywheel with your aftermarket one, and re-install the clutch. (Buying a new clutch is a good idea at this point since it needs to be taken off anyway.)

Lightened flywheels are made out of aluminum or chromoly, which reduces the rotating mass by dramatically trimming weight as compared to your heavy factory OEM flywheel. Because the lighter flywheel has less inertia, the engine doesn't need that much torque (power) to spin the flywheel to reach the certain rpm. The result is your car's rpm will increase faster. Additionally, the reduced weight alone will give you a bump in power.
