Description:
State-of-the-art technology from motor sports for more performance on the road. The separate and independently adjustable rebound- and compression damping allows for an individual suspension setup for different uses and preferences. The unique patented system with its two-stage valves allows a rebound damping adjustment (comfort) and a compression adjustment (driving dynamics) in the low-speed range while the high-speed range which controls the driving safety, is fixed.

Damping technology with individually adjustable rebound- and compression technology

•inox-line* stainless steel technology

•Individually height adjustable

•Adjustment parameters approved by the German Technical Control Board (TÜV)

•High-quality components for long durability

•Infinitely variable rebound damping adjustment

•14-way adjustable compression damping

•Unique, individually working damping force adjustment

•Comprehensive documentation for easy use

•Lowers Front: 0.9"-2.1"; Rear: 0.9"-2.1"

•Spring Rate (Front/Rear): P/P

*Not for suspensions with spring strut modification (exchanged struts), these are only available in zinc-plated steel.

Compression and Rebound Adjustment:

As far it is vehicle-specifically possible, the rebound damping is adjusted by a spindle at the end of the piston rod. Mainly, the traction phase (rebound) controls car body vibrations and also influences handling and comfort in the low-speed damping range. By using the traction phase adjustment, the vehicle can be adapted to the requirements of the driver. Moreover the driving behavior can be regulated from comfortably rolling to sporty and tense with improved road holding characteristics.

The compression phase adjustment is carried out at the lower end of the shock absorber via our patented multi-purpose valve. The large number of pre-set parameters of this valve allows for a wide range of adjustment for individual use. The unique low-speed compression adjustment significantly distinguishes this technology from any other. In this compression range, the driving behavior of the vehicle is drastically influenced. An increase of the damping power supports the vehicle already during compression and therefore avoids rolling and pitching. The directional stability is significantly improved.

About KW Suspension
KW is a high-end suspension manufacturing specialist. Their products are light years in front of some of their counterparts who care more about affordability than quality. KW sacrifices nothing at the cost of quality and usability.

For the coilovers rebound adjustment can be performed with the kit installed via an adjustment spindle on the end of the piston rod. The rebound damping primarily, controls pitch and roll of the vehicle, especially in the low speed damping range which directly influences handling and comfort. Therefore the vehicle can be adjusted to the needs of the driver, making the ride variable from comfortable to sporty and stiff, both with improved road handling.

All KW sports shock absorbers are developed and tuned specifically for their intended use. KW engineers use all the knowledge they have gained from suspension development and motorsport in order to find the perfect tuning in extensive road testing.

The double-tube gas shock absorbers are generally equipped with hardened, chrome-plated piston rods, offering ideal protection against stone chips and corrosion. A new, innovative monoblock guide and seal package inccreases pressure resistance, reduces friction and hence promotes efficiency. The new, V-shaped shrink fit Teflon seals on the working pistons reduce to a minimum the losses due to friction, and guarantee an extremly temperature-resistant, durable shock absorber system. All KW sports shock absorbers are equipped with a rebound (shortened stroke), guaranteeing optimum stroke rations and ensuring that springs are pre-tensioned. A large proportion of the rear axle shock absorbers are equipped with spring plates that are adjustable by means of slots, enabling the height of the vehicle to be varied in 5 additional positions.

In cooperation with the Technical University of Esslingen, KW products were subjected to quality testing in December of 2002 in the form of a salt spray durability test in accordance with DIN 50021 SS. The object of this testing was to compare corrosion resistance of the various systems under consideration of environmental influences such as salt water. During the test simulation of over 418 hours, the samples were inspected at regular intervals, whereby the corrosion resistance of piston rods and threaded struts were evaluated, as well as the adjustability of the aluminum spring collars. The results accoding to Esslingen: KW inox-line coilovers with stainless steel technology are clearly superior to galvanized models with regard to corrosion resistance, and in addition, ensure smooth operation even after 418 hours.

In 2006 KW automotive established an ultra-modern hydraulic 7-post dyno test facility at its Fichtenberg location which simulates off-track running conditions in the laboratory. Worldwide there are only 15 units of the hydraulic 7-post rig in use, generally used by Formula 1 race teams for research and development purposes. The teams spend considerable time setting up the suspension of their cars for individual circuits, using the 7-post rig. KW automotive is enabled to offer the opportunity of simulating track conditions in the lab as well as their expertise to interested race teams and industry partners. This gives you an idea of how much engineering goes into KW products.

FAQs
Q: How do you install coilovers?
A: Depending if you opt to go with the full coilover systems or the coilover sleeves, the spring and strut housing will need to be removed. Once the factory coil springs and struts are removed they can be replaced with the full coilover setup. If you're using a coilover sleeve then the factory spring will be removed from the strut setup and replaced with the coilover sleeve unit. A professional shop should install your coilovers as an alignment and corner-balancing services will need to be done at the same time the installation is completed.

Q: What do coilovers do? Why buy coilovers?
A: Coilovers allow you to lower your car and give you the ability to make adjustments in ride height. As opposed to lowering springs, which have a pre-determined, un-changing ride height, coilovers can be adjusted. This can be very valuable because if you don't know the exact ride height that will be optimal for your car, buying coilovers gives you the ability to adjust the right height and make it just right. Additionally, if you want to change your ride height based on different driving conditions, coilovers of course allow you to do so.

Q: Will I need a camber kit after installing coilovers?
A: In some cases you will not need a camber kit, as long as your local alignment can be put back into proper specifications. If not, a camber kit will help by allowing additional adjustment beyond what your factory alignment parts are capable of.

Q: Do coilovers come in sets of 4?
A: Coilovers are only sold in sets of four.

Q: Why is there such a huge price difference between some coilovers? Are there different types of coilovers?
A: There are two different kinds of coilovers: full coilover systems and coilover sleeves. Coilover sleeves are just the adjustable coils themselves. If you already have shocks or struts and have a camber kit that you're content with, then just buying the coilover sleeves will be adequate. Also, if you are looking for adjustable lowering components that are inexpensive, coilover sleeves are the way to go. Full coilover systems on the other hand come with not only the adjustable coils, but also with replacement shocks or struts and with a built-in camber adjuster. Full coilover systems let you drop your car and maintain or improve ride quality, and maintain even camber. The shocks that are built into full coilovers are specifically made for lowered cars, so they will ensure a great ride quality.
