Often times, injury while working on a vehicle is caused by the hood falling on an individual. This product is offered for that purpose as well as a way to exhibit your under hood modifications. These units also allow the hood to remain up and stable even under high wind conditions and were thoroughly tested for repeated use. With the use of oil filled shocks and light dampening for lightened hood applications these dampers have lift assist and slow decline features. Stainless steel w/ lightweight alloy shaft and casing with hydraulic oil seals end links for mounting points for durability and heat resistance. Q: What are hood dampers? Why buy them?
A: Hood dampers are miniature gas pressurized shocks that are used to support your hood when it is open, and to prevent it from slamming down when you go to close it. These supports are simple in design but perform an important task. Overtime lift supports can lose their charge so that they can no longer fully support the weight of your hood. You might first find this out the hard way by getting hit in the head as the hood tries to close on top of you. Once your hood starts to creep down there is not turning back, your dampers are shot.
