PERRIN Cold Air Intake System
PRECISION CONSTRUCTION
All tubes are constructed of aluminum tubing which are precision CNC mandrel bent for consistent and perfect fitting parts. Our MAF sensor bung is CNC machined for perfect fit and alignment of MAF sensor to intake.
T-BOLT CLAMPS
We use high tech T-bolt clamps instead of the typical less expensive worm drive clamps that can strip out. These high end claps offer maximum holding power and built with a liner so they will not damage silicone couplers. Each is laser etched with the PERRIN logo.
COLOR CHOICES
PERRIN intake systems are powder coated with a Red or Black Wrinkle finish to match your STI intake manifold and or our PERRIN Front Mount Intercooler tubes.
FOAM FILTER
PERRIN Performance intake filter elements use open cell foam to capture dust and dirt. Washable and reusable, PERRIN foam filter elements can last the life of your vehicle. Foam filter elements offer superior performance for turbo charged vehicles with minimal airflow restriction and amazing dust holding capacity. Increasing the longevity of your turbo.
REQUIRES ECU TUNING
The PERRIN intake system works great as a bolt intake for a stock car with stock tuned ECU. It is NOT OK to use on a car with a Reflashed/Tuned ECU, unless it is tuned specifically for the PERRIN intake system. Because of the 08+ MAF sensor being very sensitive, any change of the intake system causes the car to run lean. We have a library of PERRIN Performance custom tuned AccessPORT maps for our intake which are provided for free to existing AccessPORT customers.
POWER BY DESIGN, NOT LEANING THE AIR FUEL RATIO
This run was preformed on a 2008 STI with Stage 2 parts and tuning map. The run showing the gain in HP has the same timing curve and Air Fuel ratio and boost as the base run. This proves the intake makes horse power because it is a freer flowing intake and not by changing the fuel, timing or boost.
AIR FUEL RATIO AFTER TUNE
This is the Air Fuel Ratio from the above run. This shows how the AFR stayed consistent and the Horsepower and Torque gained was from a freer flowing intake.

Increase horsepower and style under your hood with a PERRIN Cold air intake system. This new 2008+ Intake was designed from the beginning to be a cold air intake. This provides much better more consistent HP and better driveability in all conditions. We also found that the stock intake does get heat soaked and causes a loss in power due to the high temps the sensor sees.
Proper MAF alignment and plumbing size are crucial to maintain proper air fuel ratios and prevent nasty check engine lights and cause the carto run dangerously lean. While this is very true we have found that the new 08 MAF sensor is much different that MAF sensors in the past.
With this said, it is very important to note that our intake is OK to bolt onto a stock tuned ECU vehicle. It is NOT OK to bolt onto a car with a custom tuned ECU vehicle. Because the intake does change how the car runs on a tuned map, we do offer Specific PERRIN custom tuned maps for our intake.

Q: Do you have to buy an air filter if you're buying a cold air intake?
A: Cold air intakes are usually sold with all the components needed including the filter and all adapters.
Q: How do you install a cold air intake?
A: Cold air intakes are a true bolt-on application. The removal of your factory air box and resonator will be needed and the cold air intake installed in its place. Basic hand tools are needed, and the intake installs in minutes.
Q: Are cold air intakes offered for every vehicle?
A: Cold air intakes are not offered for every vehicle and are vehicle specific. There are no universal kits available on the market.
Q: What's the difference between a cold air intake and a short ram intake?
A: Cold air intakes are usually placed in the fender well area, which brings in a cooler charged air from beneath the car (outside of the engine bay), which is denser and therefore creates more power. The piping is a lot longer than a short ram which means the power gains are not seen until the mid to higher RPM band. A short ram intake is located inside the engine bay and creates power with better response times than a cold air, however the air is not as dense, which means that it doesn't make as much power in the upper RPM region and makes less power overall.
