Description:
9.125"/ 9.625" DIAPH. - All billet flywheels are not created equal! Make sure you are getting the features you pay for. RAM billet steel and aluminum flywheels are fully machined and assembled in house. That means when you get your RAM billet flywheel, it is already surface ground, already balanced, and ready to install out of the box. A key feature of RAM aluminum flywheels is the steel insert. A flywheel insert must have enough mass to wick heat away from the clutch without distorting. RAM uses a .250-inch thick inset that is riveted in before the flywheel is surface ground. This assures a parallel friction surface with no run out, and enough material to adequately wick the heat while maintaining flatness over time that thinner inserts simply cannot do. All RAM billet flywheels are SFI certified.

Any company that manufactures clutches specifically for truck pulling is pretty hardcore in our book, and Ram Clutches does just that! Truck pulling is no joke, as these competition trucks have to pull an increasingly heavy weight-transferring sled weighing many thousands of pounds. We'd venture to guess that it just doesn't get any tougher than that on a clutch, so as you can imagine Ram Clutches probably considers it's a cakewalk to build its other lines of clutches, such as its famous drag-race caliber clutches for muscle cars. If you’re looking for a performance clutch, you can feel very comfortable ordering one made by Ram.
Q: What does a flywheel do? Why buy a flywheel?
A: A flywheel is a component of your clutch assembly, and can make a huge difference in how your car responds when you press the gas pedal. Lightened flywheels are made out of aluminum or chromoly, which reduces the rotating mass by dramatically trimming weight as compared to your heavy factory OEM flywheel. Because the lighter flywheel has less inertia, the engine doesn't need that much torque (power) to spin the flywheel to reach the certain rpm. The result is your car's rpm will increase faster. Additionally, the reduced weight alone will give you a bump in power.
Q: How do you install a flywheel?
A: We recommend professional installation since dropping the transmission or whole motor is usually needed. Once the transmission is off of the block, you can go ahead and remove your clutch setup and flywheel. Replace the factory flywheel with your aftermarket one, and re-install the clutch. (Buying a new clutch is a good idea at this point since it needs to be taken off anyway.)
