Skunk2 is proud to announce the release of our all new Pro-Series Throttle Body for the Mitsubishi EVO 7, 8, and 9. A large throttle body is important to making additional power throughout the entire rev range on forced induction cars, and one of the most restrictive parts on the 4G63 engine is the OEM Throttle Body. The Skunk2 throttle body features a 68mm bore (the largest possible bore that can be used directly on a stock manifold and intake hoses) and results in an increase of over 8hp throughout the power band. Gains from the throttle body will vary with boost levels and manifold used. Skunk2 went through an extensive design and testing process to produce a unit that not only provides more flow, but also retains the smooth drivability of the OEM unit. Designed to be used with an OEM or Skunk2 Intake Manifold, the Skunk2 Pro-Series Throttle Body will help increase horsepower and torque by optimizing airflow to your engine. The Skunk2 Pro-Series Throttle Body is designed using the latest CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) tools to produce a unit that exceeds industry standards. Each Pro-Series Throttle Body is CNC-machined from billet 6061 T6 Aluminum and hard anodized for added durability. Our throttle pulley design allows for smooth movement and throttle modulation, while the coolant hoses have been eliminated for cooler operation. A patent-pending IAC mounting block allows the use of the factory IAC which ensures that the throttle body idles like stock. The IAC mounting block can also be removed and a block off plate can be installed for racing applications.

Skunk2’s Pro Series Throttle Bodies are designed to be used with Mitsubishi’s OEM intake tubing and intake manifold as well as Skunk2’s Pro Series Intake Manifold for bolt-on horsepower and torque gains by optimizing engine airflow.
Skunk2 throttle bodies undergo an extensive design and testing process to produce a unit that doesn’t just provide more flow, but retains smooth drivability and OEM throttle characteristics. Skunk2 Pro-Series Throttle Bodies are designed using the latest CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) tools to produce a unit that exceeds industry standards. Each Pro-Series Throttle Body is CNC-machined from forged, billet 6061-T6 aluminum and hard anodized for durability in Skunk2’s signature Black Series finish. Additionally, Skunk2’s patent-pending IAC (idle air control) allows the factory IAC sensor to be retained, which ensures a stock idle, or to be easily removed and blocked off for racing applications. Skunk2’s unique design also eliminates the OEM coolant outlets for cooler operation and a cleaner appearance and is compatible with the Evo’s OEM throttle cable, which simplifies installation. Each Skunk2 Pro Series Throttle body also features sealed bearings for smooth operation and a genuine, integrated Skunk2 badge.

A: Air travels through your intake piping through your throttle body and into the intake manifold. The throttle body, which includes a throttle plate that opens and closes as you press and release the throttle, can be a major bottleneck to air flow on some trucks. A larger throttle body allows more air to pass through, thus creating more power.

A: According to wiki, "In a fuel injection engine, the throttle body is the part of the air intake system that controls the amount of air flowing into the engine, in response to driver input.
