A: Custom oil pans not only make the bottom side of your engine block look great, but they also can have an impact on performance. Since the oil pan is the lowest point on the engine block, air that's passing by along the bottom of the car interfaces with the bottom of the oil pan. Aftermarket oil pans are often designed in ways that are less obstructive to that air flow.
