Western Chassis is a company based out of Fresno, California that has been developing effective approaches to lowering a truck while maintaining proper ride quality since 1981.
Frustrated with the way "sport trucks" were having their springs heated and cut, resulting in harsh ride quality, Western Chassis designed and implemented some of the first drop spindles, first on the 1955-1957 Chevrolet Passenger Car and the Chevrolet C-10 Pickup (1970-1987) early on in their time as a company. This innovation allowed their customers to obtain the sleek look a lowered truck offered without any of the compromises in ride quality they were afraid of. Recently, Western Chassis has moved to a larger, more modernized facility that has allowed them to expand their product line.

Q: Is there any difference between the way cars and trucks are lowered? And what all is included with a lowering kit?
A: Most modern cars are lowered differently from trucks because the suspension needed to support them is different. In terms of truck suspension, not every truck is built the same, and so full lowering kits are comprised differently depending on the truck. The key thing to consider is not always the components of the lowering kit, but simply the drop the lowering kit achieves. Additionally, it is important to determine if you want shocks or not with your kit since some full kits come with shocks, and some come without. Shocks don't play any role in the actual lowering of your truck; they simply ensure that once lowered, your truck maintains or improves ride quality.
Q: What is a lowering kit? Why buy a lowering kit?
A: Lowering kits provide everything you need to lower your vehicle. Lowering your truck gives it a distinct, sleek look, and is one of the best ways to modify your truck if you're looking to give it a custom look. Lowering kits are available for a variety of different drop levels, from a subtle 1" drop of the front and rear, to an aggressive 7" drop to slam your truck. Each kit is specially designed and custom tailored to each vehicle. You can expect to not only lower your truck, but to also improve the ride quality of your truck. If you're looking for a no-hassle way to lower your truck without the complication entailed with buying multiple parts, a complete lowering kit is your best bet.
Q: Is it necessary to buy shocks if you buy a lowering kit? Do lowering kits include shocks?
A: Lowering shocks are strongly recommended when lowering a truck because factory shocks are built to be optimal for factory ride height. Using factory shocks for a lowered truck puts does a lot of wear and tear on your shocks, skews your suspension geometry, and worsens ride quality. Please check the descriptions for what is included.
