Description:
This Advanced Clutch Technology (ACT) clutch kit includes an Xtreme pressure plate, 4-pad rigid race disc, release bearing, pilot bearing and alignment tool. The Xtreme pressure plate allows for a 50 to 120 percent increase in clamp load over the stock unit. Advanced Clutch Technology (ACT) pressure plates use exclusive diaphragm design to increase clamp load, reduce deflection and maximize clutch life. All diaphragms endure an exclusive four-stage, heat-treating process for unparalleled performance. ACT pressure plates have precision cover stampings to provide rigidity and consistency, and some are reinforced to reduce flex and improve efficiency and the feel of the pressure plate. ACT pressure plates are manufactured from new units —not rebuilt from worn out parts — and are 100 percent tested and computer balanced for smooth operation at high RPM. ACT’s Xtreme pressure plates have a moderate to stiff pedal feel. Xtreme pressure plates are recommended for use with a street or race disc. Xtreme pressure plates meet SFI Specification 1.1 and are legal in all racing organizations that require SFI certification. ACT’s 4-pad rigid race discs are made with high quality, ceramic friction materials and all friction pads are measured, sorted and matched before assembly to ensure each disc is uniform in thickness. The chrome-moly hub is heat-treated for strength and durability, and the lightweight, rigid design allows for quicker shifts and smooth, trouble-free service. With the 4-pad rigid race disc engagement is harsher, but shifting is faster. The 4-pad rigid race disc is well-suited for the smaller disc sizes in smaller engines. This disc is not recommended for street use. All ACT race discs are certified as meeting SFI Specification 1.1 and are legal in all racing organizations that require SFI certification. The kit is completed with a quality, stock replacement release bearing, pilot bearing and alignment tool.
Attributes:
• All ACT pressure plates are dynamically computer balanced for smooth operation at high RPM
• Clamp load increase of 50 to 120 percent over stock with a moderate to stiff pedal feel
• Premium ceramic friction materials provide high heat tolerance, high coefficient of friction, low wear rates and will hold approximately 28 percent more torque than standard organic materials.

After spending hundreds or thousands of dollars building that high-powered engine, you need a quality clutch that can properly transfer that power into motion. But there is much more to consider. For street use, you will need a long lasting clutch that has positive feel, smooth engagement and quiet operation. For racing, you need a tough clutch that will enable quick shifts and hard slips all the way to the finish line. ACT recognizes that every driver and engine set up is unique, so a variety of complete clutch kits and components are offered to match virtually any situation.
Q: How do you install a clutch kit?
A: We recommend you get a clutch kit installed by professionals since dropping the transmission is usually necessary in order to install a clutch kit. Once the transmission is off of the block, you remove your stock setup and slip on the new kit using the clutch alignment tool. It's always imperative to make sure that surface of the flywheel is as clean as possible when mounting it back up to the clutch, to prevent any slipping during shifts.
Q: What all does a clutch kit include?
A: Most clutch kits include the clutch itself, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throw-out bearing and the clutch alignment tool. Flywheels are sold separately on our website.
Q: What does a clutch kit do? Why buy a performance clutch kit?
A: Clutch kits are used for upgrading the holding power of your factory transmission and clutch setup. If you decide to haul heavy loads or add extra horsepower to your car, you will need a high performance clutch upgrade to handle of the extra stress. You can only make a limited number of horsepower upgrades before you have to upgrade your clutch. A performance clutch gives your car the capacity to handle the increased horsepower and torque.
